Terms of Use

Fantasyquest is operated by Dark Forge Studio, LLC, based in California, USA ("we," "us," or "the Studio"). These Terms cover our Fantasyquest websites, account services, launcher, and online game. Contact us at admin@darkforgestudio.com.

By creating an account or using the services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the services. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.

Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old. If you have not reached the age of legal adulthood where you live, your parent or legal guardian must review these Terms and permit your use. You must also meet any higher age or permission requirement that applies where you live or on the platform you use. Permission from a parent does not allow a child under 13 to use Fantasyquest.

Your account

Use an email address you control and complete email verification. Keep your password and sign-in information secure. Do not sell, transfer, or share your account, or use another person's account without authorization. Let us know if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission. Do not send us your password or sign-in token.

Your account connects your characters and progress to you. You can sign out and use the account page's character-deletion controls. Character deletion is permanent and is different from deleting your account or personal information. For account closure, access problems, or privacy requests, contact us by email.

Permission to use Fantasyquest

While you follow these Terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive permission to install and use the authorized game and launcher and access the services for your own entertainment. The Studio and its licensors retain rights in the game, code, art, music, names, and other materials they provide. Third-party components remain subject to their applicable licenses.

Do not redistribute or sell the game or our assets without permission, bypass access controls, or use the services to obtain unauthorized access to systems or data. Nothing here removes rights that applicable law or an applicable open-source license gives you.

Characters, progression, and virtual items are parts of the game service. They do not give you ownership of our software or an entitlement to cash outside the game. Do not sell accounts or virtual items for real money unless we expressly provide an authorized way to do so. This does not limit rights that apply to a purchase under consumer law.

Play fairly and respect other players

The following conduct is prohibited in names, chat, guilds, gameplay, reports, and other interactions with the services:

• Harassment, threats, hateful abuse, stalking, sexual exploitation, or sexual content involving minors.
• Posting someone else's private information without permission, impersonating staff or another person to deceive others, or attempting to steal accounts.
• Cheating, bots or unauthorized automation that provides an unfair advantage, deliberately exploiting bugs to disrupt the game or its economy, or evading moderation restrictions.
• Spam, scams, malware, deliberate service disruption, or attempts to access information or systems you are not permitted to access.
• Content or activity that is unlawful or infringes another person's intellectual property or other rights.

Report gameplay bugs through the in-game bug form. Contact us by email for security issues, abuse reports, or account problems. Avoid including passwords, payment information, or unnecessary personal details in any report. You can use chat ignore and channel controls to manage interactions with other players.

Your messages and other content

You retain any rights you have in original content you submit, such as messages, names, feedback, and bug-report text. You must have the right to submit it and let us use it as described here.

You give the Studio a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, transmit, display, and make technical or moderation-related changes to that content only as needed to operate, maintain, secure, moderate, and improve Fantasyquest and respond to your requests. We may let service providers perform those tasks for us. This is not a transfer of ownership or permission to sell your content as a separate product or use it in unrelated advertising.

That permission lasts while the content is used for those purposes, including any necessary retention described in the Privacy Policy. Other players may retain copies of messages they received. Submitting feedback does not create a promise that we will use it, credit it, pay for it, or deliver a suggested feature.

Moderation, restrictions, and appeals

We may remove content, restrict communications, suspend or close an account, or correct improperly obtained progress or items when reasonably needed to address a violation, protect players or the service, investigate a security issue, or meet a legal obligation. The action may depend on the seriousness, repetition, and circumstances of the conduct.

We aim to explain an action and give you a way to challenge it, except where doing so would compromise safety, an investigation, or a legal restriction. To appeal, email admin@darkforgestudio.com with your character name, the action you are asking us to review, and relevant context. Do not include your password. An appeal does not require an active game session. We will review the information you provide; an appeal does not guarantee reversal.

Early development and service changes

Fantasyquest is in early development. Features, balance, content, system requirements, and service availability can change. Bugs, interruptions, maintenance, rollbacks, and resets of characters or progress may occur. Where practical, we will explain substantial changes or planned resets in advance.

Development updates, concepts, and roadmaps describe plans that may change. They are not a guarantee of a release date, a future feature, permanent progression, or continued operation for a particular period. Base any decision to participate or buy something on what is available and expressly offered at that time. These development limitations do not remove consumer rights or let us disregard a specific purchase commitment.

Planned purchases and distribution platforms

Optional subscriptions and purchasable cosmetics are planned; mentioning them here does not mean they are available. Before you purchase an offering, its price, contents, payment provider, and applicable purchase terms must be shown. Any recurring subscription must explain its billing cycle, renewal, and cancellation terms before you agree to it. These Terms do not authorize a charge by themselves.

If you obtain Fantasyquest through Steam or another authorized platform, that platform's terms and privacy practices also govern your use of its services. Refund requests for a platform purchase should follow that platform's process. Nothing in these Terms replaces applicable platform refund rights or any refund, cancellation, or other consumer right provided by law.

Ending use and resolving problems

You can stop using the services at any time. Account closure does not automatically cancel a separate platform subscription; use the cancellation process shown when subscribing. Contact us if you need help identifying the correct process.

If you have a complaint or dispute, email us with enough detail to understand the problem. Contacting us is a way to seek help, not a requirement that prevents you from using a court, regulator, or other remedy available under law.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or applicable obligations concerning defective digital content or services. These Terms do not impose mandatory arbitration, waive class-action rights, or require you to bring a claim in a particular court.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Fantasyquest develops or to address legal, security, or operational changes. We will post the updated version and effective date here. For material changes, we will provide a prominent notice on the website or through the services and any additional notice or agreement required by law. Changes will apply prospectively; they do not take away rights that have already arisen.
